Ecotrail Map

In 2015, Bahna started to map the ecological routes & trails of Belarus on the basis of open information sources.

Few people know that there are more than 70 ecological trails and routes in our country that are available in forestry agencies, national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.

They allow for seeing beautiful landscapes, appreciating the richness of flora and fauna of Belarus.

The continuation of the project is planned for 2019-2021 – The Ecotrail Map will become an integral part of a mire and wilderness guidebook of Belarus created by Bahna. If you want to participate in this unique project, contact us at bahna.land@gmail.com

We need people willing to help with gathering and processing of information, the visualisation of the map and the guidebook, as well as their translation into English. If you want to become a volunteer of our organisation on a regular basis, see the section “Volunteering”.

Vast wetlands are one of the most beautiful elements of the natural landscape of the national park. The world of the reserved marshes is truly unique. Marshes occupy 50% of the territory of National Park “Pripyatski”, raised bogs – 19%. Here you can learn about shrubberies (ledum, bog bilberry, butterbur, cranberry), grasses (crowberry, tussock cottongrass, cloudberry, round-leaved sundew) and trees (pines). Pines do not grow well here. Their height does not exceed 5-7 m, at the age of 100-150 years they die. Raised bogs are a good habitat for wild animals and birds.
